New Omega Mode in Street Fighter IV

The upcoming downloadable patch isn’t just an update based on feedback from the diehard gaming community. It’s also a brand new, unthinkable surprise for those fans. This new version includes Omega Mode, which reimagines some of the most iconic special moves in fighting game history, adding even more depth and fun to a game that was originally released 5 years ago.

It’s the perfect way to revive the game’s community that may be getting tired with the same-old rebalancing updates. As much as they are needed, the smaller patches are so routine these days. Like with most technical things, they’re expected—but creative things aren’t. This new mode is considerably radical because it changes the way every character can be used—44 reinterpreted characters to be exact.

There is a sort of muscle memory that develops when a gaming community dives into a game like Street Fighter IV. Players expect each classic character to move and attack in the same way they have in previous years, just with slicker graphics or tighter combos. The creators at Capcom, however, have specifically crafted the new mode to change everything that was in the original game. They are breaking the mould they expertly created. A reboot; a party mode; whatever it ends up being, it’s, very cleverly, a ‘new game feeling’ packed into a new mode.

Check out the official sneak peak here, which includes Ken kicking out Hadoukens and Guile finally having more than two moves:
