New “Star Trek” TV Series to Air January 2017

Today Trekkies rejoiced over the long-anticipated news that CBS is ordering a new Star Trek series. The new series, with new characters and timelines, will air January 2017 on CBS. The series is the first of its kind to be ordered on a first-run basis for CBS All-Access.

2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise, and many fans are greatly anticipating seeing a new, original series on the small screen.

Alex Kurtzman will serve as executive producer for the series. Kurtzman is known for producing the JJ Abrams reboot films, Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) with Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof.

Of course, there are still many questions and everyone is eager for more details.  However, most fans can agree, it’s an exciting era for the franchise.     Star Trek was by far my favorite program growing up, I’m so excited that it will be coming back to the small screen!!
